Rethinking fashion.

Christopher Raeburn is a British designer, creative director and founder of RÆBURN, the award-winning design studio he established in London in 2009.

Internationally recognised for his pioneering RÆMADE approach, Christopher has spent more than two decades exploring how surplus and reclaimed materials can be reimagined through responsible design.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, his approach brings together craft, functionality and material innovation – transforming everything from military surplus to technical fabrics into considered contemporary design.

Today, RÆBURN works from its studio at Design District, with a practice that extends beyond fashion into product design, material innovation, prototyping and creative collaboration.

Designing differently

Long before circularity and material reuse became widely discussed across the industry, RÆBURN was exploring new possibilities for existing materials and systems.

That thinking has led to collaborations across fashion, culture and industry. The studio has worked with names including The North Face, Moncler, Timberland, Victorinox, Puma and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team – exploring how responsible design can work across different contexts and scales.

Christopher has also held senior creative roles including Global Creative Director at Timberland and Napapijri and Artistic Director at Victorinox.

Closer to home, RÆBURN has collaborated with fellow Design District residents Wizard Works, reflecting the creative connections that can happen when different disciplines work side by side.

Opening up the studio

For RÆBURN, the work goes beyond products.

A large part of the studio’s focus is on community and culture, regularly opening its doors for tours that have welcomed everyone from students and the general public to sportswear companies and Formula One pioneers.

Participants get an insight into RÆBURN’s approach to design and are encouraged to consider how those ideas could influence their own creative practice.

It’s part of an ambition that has shaped the studio since 2009: to educate and inspire new thinkers through a different approach to materials, design and making.
