Matter, a woman-led structural engineering firm, based at Design District in Building B4, specialise in sustainable and innovative design. Before moving into their newly acquired B4 space, Matter were members of our Coworking community, in which they spent two years growing, developing, and transforming into the company they are today.

Founded by Christina Hsieh, Matter's work specialises in sustainable, community-focused, and innovative structural design and is reshaping the construction industry. The firm has grown within Design District, having been based in our Coworking studios for over two years before moving to their new studio in B4. Their new office space within the District reflects their values—vibrant, collaborative, and designed to inspire.

Their notable projects, such as the Cody Dock redevelopment and Church Grove housing development, showcase a commitment to creating sustainable solutions that make a meaningful impact. Matter’s collaboration with Greenwich Council on a public tender highlights their growing involvement in public sector projects.

Recognised for its excellence and inclusivity, Matter has received the Inspire Future Generation Award 2023 for its work with Reach Out 2 Kids and is shortlisted for the SME Award 2025. Beyond projects, Matter actively shapes the industry’s future, with founder Christina Hsieh speaking at events like the InspireU Conference and engaging with academia through JBM and South Bank University.
