We are turning up the volume on creativity with our newest cultural addition, LOOSE.FM.

A bold and playful community radio station, LOOSE.FM promises to bring eclectic, experimental, and ecstatic sounds to the heart of Design District. Set to debut this Spring in a repurposed shipping container, designed in collaboration with CAUKIN Studio, creators of the viral skip house.

The New Face of Radio

LOOSE.FM’s new home is anything but the expected. With a façade that blends functionality with whimsy, the container features bold colours, a green “mouth” service window, and oversized illuminated eyes designed by lighting artist Joshua Space. Perched on the container’s roof, these glowing eyes are destined to become a landmark of the Peninsula’s creative landscape. Inside, the studio is acoustically tuned for live recordings and broadcasting, making it as functional as it is eye-catching.

Our design is infused with wit and humour,” says Joshua Peasley, Co-Founder of CAUKIN Studio, “It reflects LOOSE’s values: eclectic, experimental, and ecstatic. The compact structure and use of locally sourced, repurposed materials also speak to the innovative ethos of Design District.”

A Platform for Connection

LOOSE.FM was founded in 2021 as a hub for creativity, with over 300 contributors, DJs, producers, and creators worldwide. Now, with its first permanent home at Design District, the station will host live shows, public activations, and community-focused events. Positioned in the centre of Greenwich Peninsula, near the O2 Arena and North Greenwich Tube, the station is perfectly placed to welcome locals and visitors alike.

Radio is such an important medium for creating connection and community,” says Mark Freeman, Founder of LOOSE.FM. “This move marks a big moment for us. Design District’s ethos aligns perfectly with our mission to give emerging talent a platform to disrupt and innovate. CAUKIN’s design captures our joyful spirit—a much-needed embrace of good times.”

A Vision for the Future

The shipping container’s compact and transportable design ensures versatility, allowing LOOSE.FM to potentially relocate across Greenwich Peninsula. Casual seating around the structure will encourage passers-by to pause, listen, and immerse themselves in the vibrant sounds of the station. Meanwhile, the programming line-up is already underway, featuring a mix of existing contributors, new talent, and live podcasts that promise to push the boundaries of radio creativity.

A Creative Hub Finds Its Voice

Greenwich Peninsula and Design District Director Laura Flanagan highlights the station’s synergy with the District: “LOOSE.FM captures what Design District is all about – community and creativity. It’s particularly rewarding to be able to house another kind of creative business. We can’t wait to see the station come to life this Spring.”

LOOSE.FM joins an already eclectic line-up of Design District landmarks, including the bubble-like Canteen Food Hall and rooftop basketball court. With its unique energy and commitment to fostering connections, LOOSE.FM is set to become a cornerstone of the creative ecosystem at Design District.
