About the event
Level 1 of building A2 by 6A Architects is transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity in action. Explore process, technique and product through an immersive experience by wallpaper studio, CUSTHOM, a bustling workshop by contemporary knitwear designer, Peju Obasa, and the wood and origami creations of master craftsperson, Tristan Hibberd.
Open everyday - 11am-6pm.
Research-based wallpaper and homeware design studio, CUSTHOM (Nathan Philpott and Jemma Ooi), presents Off Grid, an immersive installation that draws on the notion of connection and the invisible lines of communication that bind us together. The concept for the large-scale 3D gridwork installation is inspired by CUSTHOM’s Off Grid wallpaper design launching this autumn, which is all about making visible, in its simplest form, that which connects us as humans.
About Peju Obasa
Peju Obasa hand-crafts imaginative womenswear and accessories, mining her Nigerian heritage to create one-of-a-kind pieces that embrace individuality and celebrate tradition. The knitwear expert invites you to discover a pop-up workshop where she demonstrates her contemporary take on artisanal techniques using domestic and industrial knitting machines. Obasa founded her eponymous label in 2019 and has since been featured in publications such as Surface, Marie Claire and Elle.
About Tristan Hibberd
Tristan Hibberd is a master woodworker seeking to combine art and furniture making in order to blur the lines between function and sculpture. Hibberd is showing a new collection of framed paper sculptures and furniture designs — the result of years of experimentation brought into focus during the pandemic. His origami pieces primarily use ancient Japanese lotus flowers — folded from squares of recycled paper — based on instructions dating back thousands of years.
