About this Event
This online event sees the coming together of two pioneering women, each leaders in their respective fields. For Roz Barr, this has most recently meant addressing the future of work through her work for Bureau at Design District — designing innovative interiors, including workspaces, lounges and bars. Alessandra Lariu’s latest project, meanwhile, confronts the challenges presented by the global pandemic head on. Her new app, Women with Epic Ideas (WEI), is helping women's careers through Covid and beyond.
Following the conversation, Lariu and Barr will respond to audience questions asked via Instagram in the run-up to the event.
In 2007, Alessandra co-founded SheSays, a vibrant community of creative women with more than 70,000 members in 55 cities, bringing activism and advocacy to international clients. She has also consulted on experience design projects, worked as a product designer and creative director and won over 18 global industry awards. Alessandra was included in Fast Company’s ‘League of Extraordinary Women,’ along with Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
Roz Barr Architects was established in London in 2010. It has since undertaken a diverse range of projects internationally for private, public realm, commercial and culture sector clients. Previous projects include a property in rural Spain and a New York studio for Victoria Beckham. The practice has earned a reputation for quality of workmanship and an exceptional level of finishes. In 2016, the practice was included in New Architects 3 compiled by the Architecture Foundation.
Design District is a new permanent home for ideas, providing affordable work space to London’s creative industries. Everything about the district is designed to help creative businesses thrive. That includes 16 purpose-built buildings to provide security and certainty, plus flexible leases to enable businesses to grow or shrink in one place. Opening in Spring 2021, Design District will be cementing their commitment to support the creative industries with 12-month across- the-board rents of just £5 per sq. ft.
Bureau is a new members club, building community at the heart of Design District. Bureau brings creative people together — sparking ideas and forging connections. A new approach to working life, prioritising not just space to think and do, but shared knowledge, chance encounters and wellbeing.
