This online event brings together two pioneering women, Alessandra Lariu co-founder of SheSays and Roz Barr founder of Roz Barr Architects. Each leaders in their own respective fields, they discuss challenges, working in male-dominated industries and leadership styles.

On Friday 12th March, Design District began a programme of events produced in partnership with SheSays London, part of a global community of over 70,000 women. The series hit the ground running with Design District director, Helen Arvanitakis, hosting a frank, no-holds-barred conversation between SheSays co-founder Alessandra Lariu and architect Roz Barr, founder of Roz Barr Architects and the designer behind Bureau, our new members club for creatives. The conversation marks the start of our mentorship initiative with SheSays to support women in the creative industries. Sign-up here.

Alessandra Lariu, co-founder of SheSays

In 2007, Alessandra co-founded SheSays, a vibrant community of creative women with more than 70,000 members in 55 cities, bringing activism and advocacy to international clients. She has also consulted on experience design projects, worked as a product designer and creative director and won over 18 global industry awards. Alessandra was included in Fast Company’s ‘League of Extraordinary Women,’ along with Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.

Rozz Barr, founding director of Roz Barr Architects

Roz Barr Architects was established in London in 2010. It has since undertaken a diverse range of projects internationally for private, public realm, commercial and culture sector clients. Previous projects include a property in rural Spain and a New York studio for Victoria Beckham. The practice has earned a reputation for quality of workmanship and an exceptional level of finishes. In 2016, the practice was included in New Architects 3 compiled by the Architecture Foundation.

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, Design District is joining forces with SheSays London, part of a global community of over 70,000 creative women.

We’re giving away six pairs of mentoring sessions with SheSays co-founder Alessandra Lariu, a creative industries leader whose career in marketing, advertising and experience design has spanned more than 25 years. The winners will each receive two 30 minute sessions (or one hour-long session). If there’s a particular professional challenge you’re facing, this is a great opportunity to discuss appropriate strategies and tools — consider it a career bootcamp!

Entries will be accepted until 10:am on Wednesday 31st March.
